Was with 25th. inf. Div. 9/68-9/69. first served with 1/5 m co. B for first 3 months, then with crip plt. for remainder of tour. Just read an e-mail about Marty Lechuga and poncho Villasenor. I was with them the day we lost them to enemy fire. We were ambushed. We were sweeping towards a hedgerow and they were in the middle of the sweep a little ahead of us. They were fantastic soldiers with a heart full of compassion. Those two were always together, and I loved to hang with them every chance I could. The foursome wasn't complete until Stevie DE'ARO WAS There with his great smile, what a great kid he was. One of the nicest people I ever met ! this is actually the first time i've ever opened up about this. and I can tell you it is with great sorrow but at the same time great pleasure just thinking about them they were great guys with great pride and very respectful. I miss them. KEVIN M OHARA. kodaddyo@GMAIL.COM

Great site. I was a combat engineer that supported the 1/5 MECH. in 1968/69. Do you remember Francis Hardy?
God Bless

Your pictures and narrative really brought back memories. I was in Charlie company from July 1969 until August 1970. Many of your pictures are VERY familiar. I just had my pictures from Vietnam scanned. I am in the process of moving to Georgia, and when settled I will provide them to you.
