We remember Harry Charles as a very athletic, active and outgoing young man who was a topnotch baseball player on the Louisville Braves team--a Pop Warner type league for boys. In addition to his athleticism, Harry Charles was a trumpeter in the Camile Street High School marching and concert bands. (Camile Street High--now the junior high school for Louisville--was the segregated high school for black students only). Harry Charles was a very close friend of my brother, Tyrone Miller Greer "Peter," who is a policeman in Atlanta, Georgia. Peter is a veteran who served a few years later --'72 -76 in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Nimitiz. I remember the day that Peter played "Taps" at Harry Charles' funeral. Sharon M. Caulfield |
