  • He was a member of St. John's R. C. Church, Scottdale, PA. and a member of Hamilton-Maloy Post No. 595.
  • He was a veteran of 18 years with the U.S. Army where he served in the Korean War where and was wounded in action.
    Korean War Casualties 1965-1972 has John listed as being seriously wounded in action by a missile on May 29, 1951 in North Korea Sector. He was a Corporal with an infantry.
  • While serving in South Vietnam as part of the Charlie Company, he was riding in an armored personnel carrier on a combat mission when the vehicle detonated an enemy mine. He was 38 years of age.
