I think that David came to A Co. in April of 68 . I know that he was with us at Tan Son Nhut air base so that was in April. He was well liked from the start . David was assigned to 2nd squad 3rd platoon ( track 32 ) as a rifleman,  as we were always short on people to carry a rifle . Through out the time that David was with us he moved up in rank and more responsibility came his way.  By the time that we moved into Dau Tieng he was sharing walking point for the platoon with me.  Sergeant Jackson          ( Platoon Sergeant ) had me start  to train Bradshaw to take over the Squad as I would be leaving soon.
On the morning of Nov. 14 ,68 Sergeant Jackson came to me and said that David would be taking over the squad .  I was under 30 days left in Nam so it was David turn to be squad leader. That morning A Co. was to sweep along the south side of Thunder Road ,  3rd platoon was on point for the day. David was walking point with a Scout Dog , and Handler when a Command detonated mine was set off . WE lost the Dog , Handler and David to the mine there were a few wounded too. This was a great lost to all us as David was a good soldier and a good friend . Those of us that are still in touch , from A Co. talk of David often.
